This year, 2024, corresponds to the year 2016 on the Ethiopian calendar. 🌼 Enkutatash, which literally means "gift of the new year," is celebrated on September 11th (or September 12th in leap years) and is a joyous occasion filled with family gatherings, feasting, and the exchange of gifts. 🌼The festival marks the end of the rainy season and the start of the harvest season. This connection to nature is evident in the traditional customs surrounding Enkutatash. Ethiopians often wear new clothes, symbolizing a fresh start, and adorn their homes with flowers and greenery. Enkutatash is a time for joy and merriment, it also carries a deeper meaning.
