IS POLYGAMY WINSOME? Vince Bantu calls himself a Hood Theologian. CT saw him as a rising star among Evangelicals — and now reports he has multiple wives and engaged in secret affairs. He recently taught at Fuller Seminary, a large liberal school that recruits students from Evangelical backgrounds. So, why do we care about this woke deviant? His resume says he was at the PCA's Covenant Seminary from 2015-2018. He taught missiology and coordinated a multicultural project.  Presumably, Covenant overlooked warning signs because of his demographics, academic background, and tendency to say what they wanted to hear. (Mostly his demographics. I couldn't find that he had any claim to being Reformed.) See the lengthy CT article: archive.is/h66fA @Presbyterianism

At this point anyone in parachurch ministry must be treated with suspicion. There are way too many scandals and defections to think otherwise. Cutting back parachurch would be a step toward reform. We need local pastors serving their own people with the context of congregations. @Presbyterianism

Sad. Lawson was a dispensational Baptist minister who marketed himself as an experimental Calvinist. He was a dean at Master's Seminary, pastored a church in Texas, and was a leading figure on the Ligonier circuit. Now it is all gone. @Presbyterianism

While world flight is not synonymous with pietism, it is a tactic to avoid some uncomfortable parts of discipleship. Ortland misses the point here in indirectly criticizing those to his right. While assurance is indeed grounding, that implies it is the foundation for other things. After all, the kingdom of God is where we profess true faith and live our lives in this world. We all pray that God's will will be done on Earth as in Heaven. When we act in politics and society, we work to make life healthier for our families, our neighbors and other Christians. Often, this is a second table (Exodus 20:12-17) necessity. @Presbyterianism

Natural Theology by Geerhardus Vos is $2.99 on Kindle today. Vos was brilliant. The biblical theologians who came after him, not so much. @Presbyterianism

Cats and Culture: A Call to Compassion In our pluralistic society, we often encounter practices that challenge us—like the idea of eating cats. For many, cats are cherished companions, which can provoke strong emotions. However, as Christians, we don't have the authority to force others to adhere to our cultural standards. Instead, our calling is to coexist peacefully and lovingly with everyone, despite our profound disagreements over cat consumption. When we react angrily to practices like eating cats, we should ask ourselves: Does this display the fruits of the Spirit? Or does it reveal idols in our own hearts? The gospel invites us into a third way—not simply being for or against cultural practices like eating cats, but engaging others with grace, humility, and love. (TGC? No, GPT. But you've seen those distortions in real life.) @Presbyterianism

The institutional church really is spiritual, even though some misinterpret it. The visible church, as people, exists in many spheres of life. @Presbyterianism
