Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order banning counseling for minors who want to overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors, and gender confusion. In doing so, he sidestepped the Kentucky legislature after it has repeatedly protected children by denying attempts to enact a law banning counseling. Through Liberty Counsel’s efforts, city ordinances in Florida and Iowa banning this type of counseling have been struck down or repealed, preserving the free speech rights of counselors to help their clients to reduce or eliminate unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors, or gender confusion. “Governor Beshear’s executive order is unconstitutional. Free Speech WIN! As a result of our demand letter, the City of Racine agreed a Christian ministry (Tarry One Hour) has the right to peacefully speak in public areas after the city previously discriminated against and prevented them from ministering biblical truth at a "Pride" event. Tarry One Hour shares Christian messages through personal conversations, literature distribution, and public signs, and on June 23, the City of Racine, Wisconsin violated the group’s First Amendment rights and the city's own ordinance by preventing them from ministering on a public sidewalk surrounding City Hall during an LGBTQ event. Thanks to this victory and the city’s admission that public speech is not prohibited, freedom of speech for Christian ministries in Racine is further protected for them to peacefully speak biblical messages in public areas outside abortion facilities, during LGBTQ events, and at other community assemblies. In a recent landmark decision, the Nebraska Supreme Court unanimously ruled in three lawsuits that two competing abortion proposals to amend the state constitution can go on the November ballot. The rulings set up Nebraska voters to choose between a pro-life amendment that would enshrine the state’s current 12-week abortion ban into the state constitution or a pro-abortion amendment that would enshrine a right to abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy. A win for free speech! The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled in favor of a University of Louisville professor who was allegedly demoted, harassed, and ultimately fired for his personal views on gender confusion. Now, he can take his case to trial in District Court. Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Firing a professor over a difference of opinion is offensive to the First Amendment. Despite what pro-abortionists want people to believe, the truth is children are being murdered before and after their birth in America. Data from just nine states alone shows that 277 babies were born alive after a failed abortion since 2006, and in some cases were left to die. Especially after the recent presidential debate between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, mainstream media outlets have been quick to deny abortion is happening in the ninth month and propagate the claim that infanticide is illegal in every state. This isn't surprising, considering their abortion amendment is also deceptive & removes parental consent. Ten states officially have a proposed constitutional amendment regarding abortion on the ballot in November 2024 including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, and South Dakota. In varying degrees, many of these amendment proposals would codify the right to abortion – the right to kill unborn babies – across these states where any previous state laws protecting unborn life and many regulations protecting women would be stripped away. Since 2022, voters in California, Michigan, Ohio, and Vermont have all codified abortion as a “fundamental right” in their state constitutions. As a result, there a few restrictions to abortion in these states.
