Update for visa applicants in AP: Effective August 1, 2024, embassies will not allow the reuse of previously captured biometric oaths taken long ago. Thus, if you are in AP, be prepared for in-person re-oath after you get final clearance. -curtis

I am in a recess in DV lawsuit hearing. Counsel for State Department just revealed 51,284 of 54,850 allotted FY-2024 diversity visas have been issued already, and program is expected to end on September 23. Bittersweet news. Great for those who got visas, but awful for those who haven't yet. - curtis

FAQ: I have pending mandamus lawsuit for case in AP. Can I make a congressional inquiry, too? Answer: No harm in reaching out to the office of a member of congress (or the US senate), and it will have no impact on mandamus lawsuit. However, keep expectations reasonable as we have not seen that be an effective way to accelerate finalizing a pending SAO request. The way congressional inquiries can be useful is when you get the response, if you ask narrow follow up question(s) about the process and ask them to take them back to the State Department. Like- was an SAO request submitted to SAC office? When? Has an analyst there reviewed the file (since there are 61,000 pending SAO requests and only 37 analysts.) - curtis
