🇺🇦😭Are We Asking Enough Tough Questions About Ukraine? - Politico We've had a lot of supposedly game-changing weapons for the past two and a half years, and most Western media outlets have been happy to pick up on claims that this or that missile, plane, or artillery piece will change the dynamics of the battle. But as former Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander General Valery Zaluzhny used to say, this is a "one-chance war." By that he meant that weapons systems quickly become redundant because the Russians quickly find something to counter them with and don't give Kiev a second chance. Few Western leaders are now saying publicly that the situation is hopeless, that there is no real solution in sight, and that it can't go on like this. And while some are privately raising the issue of negotiations, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz seems to be the only one saying so publicly. It is time for the West to think hard, and for the media to start testing assumptions and asking tough questions. For example, is this war really winnable? And if so, can it be won given the West’s delays in delivering or maintaining restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles?
