We often think that wealth, knowledge and skills are the foundation of our achievements and these in turn bring us happiness. Yet, the truth is “Without love, we are nothing.” Pope Francis reminds us that we are able to love because God loves us first. And He loves us with a Father’s heart, who has given us His Son for our redemption. Only in Christ can we find meaning and fulfilment in our lives. Through Pope Francis’ visit to Singapore, we have experienced Christ’s love for us. However, this encounter not meant to remain as a “feel good” moment. The Lord invites us to share His love with those who are poor, sorrowful and suffering, and most of all by extending forgiveness and hope to those around us. Like St Francis Xavier, let us ask, “Lord, here I am; what do you want me to do?”, so that we may listen and respond readily to the invitations to love and live justly in our every day lives.
