This is Adobe Illustrator CC 2020. A graphic design software. I have shared the older version of the software to make it possible to run on various computers.

You want a job, but you're too lazy to even edit the application letter you got from ChatGPT. You didn't even bother to change the placeholders. The flow of the application is purely AI-generated, unedited, and bland. Yet, we want to complain that the economy is harsh, that opportunities are scarce. Earlier today, I had a light conversation with Miss Muthoni Njoroge from LinkedIn on the same topic. Yes, it’s absolutely fine to use tools like ChatGPT, but for heaven's sake, edit the text afterward. The AI can help you with structure and ideas, but don’t ignore the human touch—that’s where the magic happens. When you're dealing with clients or applying for jobs, you need to inject your personal touch, your voice, and your authenticity. Stop relying on AI alone; it’s there to assist, not to replace your creativity. Add some spice, some personality into your applications by editing the AI-generated content. Trust me, employers and clients can tell the difference, and the little extra effort can take you far.

If you have any doubts about learning skills, try me. Recently, we kicked off web design classes for beginners, and I now have over 300 students enrolled. We just wrapped up our classes for the week, and the progress has been incredible. Our sessions run from Monday to Wednesday at 7:45 PM East African Time, and each class is recorded and made available immediately after for those who may have missed it or need to revisit the lessons. Our focus is WordPress web design, and we are getting deep into understanding the platform. Those who know me know how much I enjoy design, whether it’s graphic design or web design that’s my bread and butter. We expect to finish this cohort next month and proceed to the final class of the year in November. So far, my students are progressing fast. They’ve already been introduced to the fundamentals of WordPress websites, and we’ve covered everything from themes and plugins. When working with clients, I primarily use WordPress because it’s versatile and highly efficient. Now, I’m passing this knowledge to others, empowering them to create and deliver just as I have. With over 300 students actively learning, I ask you this, Do you still doubt that it’s a good day to learn a skill? The future belongs to those who are willing to invest in themselves.

We want to plan a 1 day physical class on skills. This should be either on 1. Graphic design. 2. Web design. 3. Video editing. 4. Copywriting.

For anyone still in school or newly graduated, here’s the truth: you need to learn a skill. It's not enough to just rely on your degree or diploma. While certificates are important, they won’t automatically guarantee you a job. If you learn graphic design, you can create logos. If you master video editing, you can solve real-world problems and get paid for it. The focus should be on practical, in-demand skills, not just papers. What skills have you learned this month? How are you preparing yourself to stand out? Let’s start thinking beyond certifications and focus on what we can actually do with our skills.

Back then in university, we all wanted to pursue degrees and diplomas, aiming to get the best marks. We thought the best grades would automatically lead to the best job opportunities. But the reality hit after graduation. I did procurement at a university in Kenya, and after getting my degree in 2019, I thought I could just go out, hand over my certificate, and get a job. But the harsh truth is that getting a job isn’t just about having papers. In today’s economy, you need specific skills—skills that can actually make you stand out and provide real value. Unfortunately, university doesn’t always teach us that.

For a very long time, I’ve had the idea of starting a podcast. I tried several times, but every time I got close, I always found an excuse "I don’t have the right equipment," "I’m too busy," "Who’s going to listen?" But this time, I decided to face the bull by its horns and push through. No more excuses. I partnered with Daddy Blessing, a fellow content creator, and together we’re launching a podcast that will dive deep into the world of skills development, personal growth, business strategies, and youth empowerment. We’ve both seen how important these topics are, and we wanted to create a space where we could share practical insights and help others on their journey. This is the very first episode we’re shooting, and I have to say, it feels incredibly rewarding to finally see this vision come to life. The idea isn’t just to talk about the theory—we’re going to share real-life experiences, lessons we’ve learned the hard way, and strategies that can help anyone who’s looking to grow and improve themselves. We’ll be discussing how to leverage your skills, how to build a social media following, and how to navigate the modern business world, among many other topics. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re already on your way, there will be something valuable for everyone. The road to getting here wasn’t easy, but I’ve learned that nothing worth having comes easy. If you’ve been thinking of starting something, whether it’s a podcast, a business, or even a personal project, just start. You’ll figure out the rest as you go. Stay tuned for more updates, episodes, and conversations that will hopefully inspire you to take action in your own life. Let’s make this journey together. We can’t wait to share what’s in store!
