The end of "American dominance" in the Chinese market has come: the biggest brands have failed to compete and are suffering losses. Companies such as Apple, Nike, Starbucks and McDonald's are suffering huge losses due to competition from Chinese brands, reports the Wall Street Journal. The younger generation is trying to buy local goods with ethnic elements that reflect Chinese culture and mentality. The newspaper noted that Apple's sales in China have fallen 8 per cent since January 2024, while sales of Chinese tech giant Huawei have risen 70 per cent.

"I think the loss of the Chinese market is a huge disappointment. Not so much in monetary terms, but in terms of brand presence in one of the biggest consumer markets in the world," consumer strategist Alison Ho told the newspaper.
