৫ আগস্ট গণভবনে ঢুকে আমি প্রথমে পুকুর পাড়টায় যেয়ে বসি। কেউ পুকুর পাড়ে বসে কাঁদছে, কেউ গোসল করছে, কেউ মাছ ধরছে। সবার মাঝে মুক্তির আনন্দ। এর মধ্যে এক মধ্য বয়সী ভদ্রলোক আমার পাশে এসে বসেন। যে গ্রুপটা সর্বপ্রথম গণভবনে ঢুকে তাদের মধ্যে তিনি একজন। লোকটা নানান গল্প করতে করতে বেশ বিষণ্ণ হয়ে যায়। একটা পর্যায়ে বলে, জানেন ভাই, এই মহিলা দুপুরে খাওয়ার প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছিল। তার ডাইনিংয়ে ১০-১২ পদের আইটেমের বুফে প্রস্তুত ছিল। একদম গরম টাটকা খাবার। তার ফ্রিজগুলো খুলে দেখেছিলাম। এত বড় বড় পাংগাস মাছ আমি জীবনেও দেখিনি। একেকটা ১৫-২০ কেজি ওজনের নদীর পাংগাস। অন্তত ১০-১২ টা আস্ত ইলিশ মাছ দেখেছি। একেকটা ১.৫ কেজির কম না। একটা গরীব দেশে এই মহিলা রাণীর মত বসবাস করছিল। অথচ এই মহিলা আমাদেরকে পেঁয়াজ ছাড়া, তেল ছাড়া রান্না করতে বলতো, বাচ্চাদেরকে কাঁঠালের বার্গার খাওয়াতে বলতো, ভাতের বদলে আলু খেতে বলতো। আমার বাচ্চা অনেক দিন ইলিশ মাছ খায় না। সাধ্য হয় না কেনার। বলতে বলতে লোকটা কেঁদে ফেললো। আমি কিচ্ছু ধরি নাই। খুব ঘৃণা লেগেছে এই খাবারগুলো দেখে। তারপর চোখ মুছতে মুছতে বললো, শে-খ হা-সিনা এদেশের মানুষকে প্রচন্ড ঘৃ-ণা করতেন আর আমাদের কষ্ট দেখে আনন্দ পেতেন। কথা সত্য। উনি আমাদেরকে ঘৃ-ণা করতেন, অসম্ভব রকমের ঘৃ-ণা করতেন। ~ শাহরিয়ার আহমেদ শাদিব!
