A new perspective on goals. Goals are ok, just don’t over obsess about them. Recently, I had a good rocking chair moment where I found a 2015 set of goals. I achieved every one of them. This year, I didn't write down any goals because I have been pursuing the same goals for so long. As I've achieved these goals, I've kept moving the goalpost. For example, "When I achieve this much revenue, I want to do this." "When I make this much money this year, I want to do this." The cool thing about this is that it incorporates consistency. I'll take my construction business as an example. I'll be hitting 13 years this year. My goal has always been revenue, profit, size, and culture. I've accomplished all of these things and want to keep adding to them. All while maintaining the culture, preserving the margin, and moving the line on revenue. For that reason, I don't need to write anything down. I know what I have to do. There's a cool example of a business that I relate to mentioned in a book. It talks about pushing a Ferris wheel. A guy in the story wants to push a Ferris wheel. He pushes on it every day. Eventually, he will be able to take these slow steps. Then, he's jogging with it and slowly progressing. He can push it, and it spins so well that all he has to do is step back from it... And slap it as it spins fast. Because the momentum is built up. So, if you're just starting, You can write down your goals. But eventually, you will reach a point where you already know the plays.

I wouldn’t be the man I am today without the lessons I gathered from college football. It taught me to trust myself in pain and push through the tough times. And it will be the same principle that will grant you the lifestyle that you want. So do yourself a favor and DON’T GIVE UP.
