New Challenge with Eddy & Cheddy For over two months, EdChess players have been taking on the chess bots Eddy and Cheddy and earning TON tokens.
For the newcomers: these are simple bots that sometimes show up instead of real opponents in our Crypto Game mode 👾.
Since the bots are pretty weak, you can have some fun with them. For instance, players have been rewarded for wins, losses, fast and long checkmates. ⭐️ Now, one of the challenges has changed: 🤬 Losing → Hikaru's Rage To earn this achievement, you need to promote at least five pawns and, of course, win the game. The other challenges stay the same for now, but we'll be changing another one soon, so stay tuned! Feel free to drop your ideas in the comments—who knows, the best one might get added. We post your results in our [chat] daily and give out 0.1 TON for every completed challenge! 💬 So, what’s your move? 🔥 — I'll give it a try right now 😎 — Easy win 🤔 — Okay, I guess

Chess Speaks for Itself — On Screen! In 2025, Netflix will release a documentary about the scandal between Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann that rocked the chess world in 2022. After an unexpected loss to Niemann in a tournament, Carlsen hinted at possible cheating by the young player, but offered no proof. This incident led to major investigations and lawsuits, shaking the chess community 💣 The documentary will be part of the Untold series, which focuses on some of the biggest scandals in sports. It will feature interviews with key figures, including Carlsen himself. According to those involved, the film might reveal some surprising details about the scandal. Netflix has already sparked interest in chess with the series "The Queen's Gambit". The new film about Carlsen and Niemann could once again bring millions of people back to the game. ➕ Looking forward to it? ❤️ — Adding to my watchlist 😎 — Chess speaks for itself 🤔 — Doubt this documentary will be as popular as The Queen's Gambit 📝 About | Chat | OKX | Tonkeeper ✈️

The 2024 Chess Olympiad Kicks Off in Budapest The Chess Olympiad has started in the heart of Europe, Hungary, and will run until September 22. This massive event has brought together the world's best chess players, all competing for the title of the strongest national team. At the last Olympiad in 2022, Uzbekistan took home the top prize. Who will be the best this time? What is it? The Chess Olympiad is a major international tournament where teams from over 190 countries battle it out for trophies and medals. Besides the open tournament, there’s also a women's section. The Olympiad offers both team and individual awards 🏆 What are the rules? • The tournament follows the Swiss system and consists of 11 rounds. Each match features teams of four players, plus one reserve, and the results count toward the team’s overall score. • Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, then 30 more minutes, with an additional 30 seconds per move. Players can't agree to a draw before the 30th move, keeping the games more intense. • The team with the most points in the open section wins the Hamilton-Russell Cup. The top team in the women’s section will take home the Vera Menchik Cup. Teams also compete for the Nona Gaprindashvili Cup, awarded based on combined performance in both sections. Who to watch? Among the top-rated teams are the USA, India, China, and Uzbekistan. World-class chess stars will face off, including Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Fabiano Caruana, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, and the young world title contender, Gukesh Dommaraju. ⚪️ Are you following the Olympiad? ❤️ — Yep, I am 🤔 — Skipping this one

Big update in EdChess: we've improved the connection, refreshed the interface, and revamped the board! From a recent announcement about the new design, it's clear we've focused on enhancing the app's look. We've made the interface smoother and more intuitive. What else was left to do? We needed to work directly on the battlefield—the chessboard. Now, the board features a new color palette and style for the pieces! Additionally, we've significantly increased the responsiveness and smoothness of the playing field. In other words, the bullet time control is just around the corner! Other updates include an improved player matchmaking system based on their ratings and enhancements to the app's stability: we've sped up reconnections and interactions with the TON ecosystem. But enough talk—try out the new update right now! 📝 About | Chat | OKX | Tonkeeper ✈️

How will matchmaking be improved? 🧠 Following up on the previous post, we want to reveal several specific steps our team has taken to model an adequate ranking system. One of these steps is an advanced calibration system, which is coming in one of the future releases ⚙ What is the calibration system? Soon, players will be able to declare their skill level themselves and confirm it through practice games with our bots.
For example, a player with an ELO rating of 1900 will be able to prove their chess skill by defeating a bot of corresponding strength, and they will no longer have to play against low-ranked opponents.
And by the way! In the future, strong players will be able to play for a greater number of TON 👏 What if I don't know my skill level? In this case, we will easily assist the user in determining their level 🙂 We believe that the calibration system is crucial for comfortable play, as each player will be able to identify the most suitable opponent in all modes — including in the Crypto Game — from their very first game. There will be even more insights in the upcoming posts! We wish everyone great games 🔥 Your EdChess team. 📝 About | Chat | OKX | Tonkeeper ✈️

What do we think about the matchmaking system? ⚔️ The EdChess team understands how frustrating it can be when a beginner faces a grandmaster and gets defeated in a dozen moves. And we understand that professional players get bored when they are repeatedly matched with players who open with a4. Our team believes the following:
The strong should play with the strong, and beginners should play with beginners.
Perhaps the most observant among you have already noticed that the rating system is now available in Crypto Game! 💪🏻 Currently, the rating is not displayed for players, but soon everyone will be able to see their rating in real time. From now on, the system considers your rating and your opponent's rating for a more comfortable gaming experience. And we will definitely refine and polish it to ensure that chess brings you joy and everything is fair ❤️ How about a game on a Saturday evening?
