# Mpox in Burundi: A Wake-Up Call for Ethiopia? The mpox outbreak in Burundi offers a sobering glimpse into the challenges of managing a viral disease, especially in a resource-limited setting. It also serves as a stark reminder for Ethiopia to strengthen its preparedness for potential outbreaks. The Reality on the Ground: โ€ข "It was so painful I couldnโ€™t sleep." - Egide Irambona, a mpox patient, describes the excruciating pain he experienced from swollen lymph nodes. โ€ข "I am worried about the numbers. If they keep increasing, there is no capacity for us to handle that." - Dr. Odette Nsavyimana, doctor in charge at the King Khaled University Hospital, expresses concern over the overwhelming number of patients and limited resources. โ€ข "Many people do not understand the gravity of this issue. Even where there have been cases, people still just mingle." - Dr. Liliane Nkengurutse, national director for the Centre for Public Health Emergency Operations, highlights the challenge of limited public awareness and the need for increased education. Lessons for Ethiopia: โ€ข Invest in Public Health Infrastructure: The lack of testing facilities, kits, and vaccines in Burundi highlights the need for Ethiopia to invest in its public health infrastructure to be better prepared. โ€ข Promote Public Awareness: The limited understanding of the risks and transmission of mpox in Burundi emphasizes the importance of proactive public health campaigns to educate citizens and promote preventive measures. โ€ข Ensure Access to Clean Water and Sanitation: Limited water access in Burundi makes maintaining hygiene practices difficult. Ethiopia should prioritize access to clean water and sanitation facilities for all. The mpox outbreak in Burundi is a stark reminder that preparedness is crucial. Let's learn from this situation and strengthen our public health systems in Ethiopia to ensure we are ready to face future challenges. @HHETatI @HHETatI @HHETatI

"Doctor,๐Ÿฅฉ I Really Love Red Meat - What's the Deal? Is red meat really bad for me?" This is a question many people have, and it's one that recent research has brought to the forefront. While red meat can be part of a healthy diet, studies have sparked discussions about the potential link between red meat consumption and health risks, particularly type 2 diabetes. Here's what's known so far: โ€ข Possible Link, Not Proven Cause: Research suggests that eating large amounts of red meat might be associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. However, it doesn't definitively prove that red meat causes the condition. โ€ข Other Factors at Play: Overall diet, lifestyle choices, and genetics likely play a significant role in developing type 2 diabetes. โ€ข Not Just Red Meat: Processed meats, like sausages and bacon, are also linked to potential health concerns. What Can You Do? โ€ข Moderation is Key: While you don't need to completely eliminate red meat, limiting your intake is generally recommended as part of a healthy diet. โ€ข Variety is the Spice of Life: Incorporate a diverse range of foods, including plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ— โ€ข Stay Informed: Continue to stay informed about ongoing research and consult with your doctor for personalized advice. Remember: The key is to make informed choices about your diet and prioritize overall health and well-being. ๐Ÿ’š You are not alone!๐Ÿ’ช Share this with your loved ones. @HHETatI @HHETatI

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey everyone! Monkeypox is making headlines, and for good reason. Just a few days ago, the WHO Director Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus declared monkeypox a public health emergency. It's NOT the same as COVID-19, but it's still important to know about: What is it? ๐Ÿ’ A virus causing a rash, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. How does it spread? โ€ข Close contact with an infected person's rash or body fluids โ€ข Touching contaminated materials (bedding, clothing) โ€ข Less common: respiratory droplets Symptoms? ๐Ÿค• โ€ข Fever โ€ข Headache โ€ข Muscle aches โ€ข Backache โ€ข Swollen lymph nodes โ€ข Rash: starts on face, spreads. Goes through stages (macules, papules, vesicles, pustules, scabs) Who's at risk? Anyone can get it, but more common in: โ€ข Close contact with infected people or animals โ€ข Travelers to areas where monkeypox is common โ€ข People with weakened immune systems Protect yourself! ๐Ÿ’ช โ€ข Avoid close contact with people who have a rash โ€ข Wash your hands often ๐Ÿงผ โ€ข Don't touch contaminated materials โ€ข Get vaccinated! ๐Ÿ’‰ Think you might have it? โ€ข See your doctor ASAP! ๐Ÿฅ โ€ข Isolate yourself from others You are not alone๐Ÿ’ช @HHETatI @HHETatI
