Some people argue that holding sporting events is beneficial to a country’s development. However, other people hold the opposite opinion. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. People are divided as to whether a country benefits from hosting sporting events. While organizing sporting competitions and tournaments can prove disadvantageous in some regards, I share the view that it is beneficial to a country in many significant ways. Some people object to a country hosting a sporting event, especially if it is an international one, for two primary reasons. First of all, there is an environmental aspect to consider. Sporting events are known to attract not only local visitors but also large crowds from other countries. An influx of tourists from other countries, in turn, contributes to overcrowding and traffic problems, which aggravate air and noise pollution. Heightened levels of pollution, as a result, disturbs the local wildlife as well as residents. Secondly, opponents are concerned that large scale sporting competitions may put pressure on local people. They fear local authorities may increase taxes to raise more funds in order to build new sports venues and renovate existing infrastructure in preparation for the events. This can lead to public disapproval and possibly, internal conflicts. As much as I acknowledge the points above, I tend to believe holding sporting events does benefit a country in various ways. Sporting events revitalize the local economy by attracting tourists, who spend on public facilities like transportation and local businesses such as hotels and restaurants. As well as helping generate more income, such events mean new vacancies in many industries, further consolidating the local economy. On top of that, sporting events raise people’s awareness of the benefits of sports. The idea of global sporting events being held in their locality excites people, making it more likely that they take up sports. This, in effect, improves the overall public well-being. Finally, holding sporting competitions can improve a country’s international relationships, seeing as countries set aside their disputes and differences to celebrate the events like the Olympics and World Cup. In conclusion, while organizing sporting events in a country may possibly undermine the local environment and cause public disapproval, I believe it is largely beneficial to a country’s economic, health and political development.  #task2 348 words, @metiisuphere #ieltswriting #classwork

Repost from TOEFL ZONE
I’ve updated my TOEFL lessons which are given online to include the latest information about lesson packages. You can see what’s included in lessons, how lesson packages work, how much they cost,  and what we can realistically cover in a certain number of lessons. Lots of good information to help you plan your studying! Let me know if you have any questions. Online private lessons are a fast and efficient way of preparing for TOEFL. If you've tried every method of studying but you still haven't achieved your target scores I can help you. NO WORRIES!! I've been teaching online for some years and I've seen how effective online learning can be. It really does change students' lives! All lessons take place in ZOOM so we can screen-share and record. I actively encourage you to record your lessons so you can go back to them whenever you want. Many teachers don't allow this. Each lesson is a full 60 minutes. I never rush away at the end, so there's always plenty of time for you to ask questions. Throughout the entire process, I treat you as an individual. I find out about your strengths, your weaknesses, your challenges, and how you like to study. Then I build these factors into your personalized study plan. Everything I do is focused on working towards your success. Here you go: **** 8 Lessons USD$450 We can cover 1 or 2 skills for review, reinforcement and practice if you're familiar with the exam. We can focus on 1 skill if you need a big score increase or if you're uncertain of strategies. We can specialize in delivery and pronunciation if you need help in those areas. I will create a personalized lesson plan for your specific needs. **  12 Lessons USD$650 If you're familiar with the exam, we can review all 4 sections and practice exam strategies. Or we can focus on 1 or 2 skills if you need personalized, focused help to boost your score. We can target fossilized errors and increase your accuracy in language use. I will create a personalized lesson plan for your specific needs. **  16 Lessons USD$885 This is the perfect package to raise your scores in speaking and writing. We can cover these skills in depth and work on strategies, reinforcement and practice. If you have a low reading score and need help with grammar and vocabulary strategies, we can cover those in depth. Or, you may like to use 2 months of instruction to boost your scores in all 4 skills. I will create a personalized lesson plan for your specific needs. Contact me to book lessons @Meti_2323
