In the latest poll, commissioned by the Institute for Social Research, respondents were asked to give their opinion on President Alar Karis' speech on the 33rd anniversary of the restoration of independence: "Many people perceive the government as an enemy that wears down the people. This is a dangerous development that cannot simply be blamed on a mistake. People want to understand why they are being burdened with taxes and how their money is being used. It is not enough to say that public expenditure and revenue are out of balance. Government policy may be right, but people need to perceive it as right and fair. If power is perceived to be unfair, trust in that power, and ultimately in our own country, is eroded." The question did not attribute the quote to the President or mention his name, but introduced the quote with the sentence "In the last anniversary speech an opinion was expressed." First, respondents were asked "Do you agree with this statement?". 12 percent of respondents said "no" or "rather no", 80 percent said "rather yes" or "yes" and 8 percent could not say. 90% of Isamaa, 85% of EKRE, 84% of the Social Democratic Party, 80% of the Centre Party, 77% of Eesti 200 and 62% of Reform Party supporters agree with the President's statement. Respondents were then asked the question "Do you personally feel that the government has become an enemy that is oppressing the people?". Twenty-two per cent of respondents said "no" or "rather no", 70 per cent said "rather yes" or "yes", and 7 per cent could not answer. Personally, the government is perceived as an enemy that is exhausting the people by 90 percent of the supporters of the Estonian People's Party (EKRE), 88 percent of the Centre Party, 88 percent of the supporters of Isamaa, 67 percent of the supporters of Estonia 200, 54 percent of the supporters of the Social Democratic Party and 22 percent of the supporters of the Reform Party. Comparing the answers to the two questions on the basis of party preference reveals that while the majority of Reform Party supporters think that the government may indeed have become the enemy of some of the people who are wearing them down, they do not personally feel this. The poll was conducted by Norstat Eesti on 17 September in an online environment among Estonian citizens aged 18 and over and 1001 respondents took part.LINK 🔗

Estonian aid. Among the liberators of Pskov, the Estonian Republic troops were the first to enter the city, welcomed with joy by the entire population. At that time Colonel Bulak-Balakhovich was driving the Communist regiments north of Pskov, preventing them from retreating on the city and thus saving the population from the last bloody violence. The service of the sons of the Estonian people to the liberating Russian people will remain forever in our memory. Our fervent gratitude will not be limited to words. We remember well the help given by the Estonian government to the North Russian Army during its formation and up to the last moment. May the Russian friendship with the Estonian people continue to be real and sincere. We shake hands firmly with the heroes of the Estonian people who are now in the defense of Pskov. “New Russia”. What is happening in Europe today is a one-to-one correspondence with the fall of the Roman Empire. But just as it was not understood then, it is not understood now. On the contrary, we are convinced that there is some kind of enormous development in the world, and we are at the top of it.- Einar Laigna on the decline of European civilization
"The coexistence of an independent nation state (Republic of Estonia) and a multicultural federal state (European Union) is not possible in reality. In fact, we have not been independent since 2004, and this is the root of most of our problems. Estonia must restore the constitutional order adopted by referendum."- Martin Helme, chairman of the Estonian Conservative People's Party
