In the beginning of the year- we wanted to help another community in need . Water scarcity is felt across Central Asia. In the Fergana Valley- it is a point of conflict amongst neighbours when different countries have to share rivers. Along the Isfara river, a conflict between Kyrgyz and Tajik communities broke out in September 2023 that led to destruction in both sides. This included Tajikistan’s school 64 in Chorkuh. WARC’s board chose to join the effort to return the school. Excess funds from this year’s fundraisers was used to purchase school supplies and a printer-copier for the school.

On 26 May, our trip to Schools 39 and 47 in Janbaskala culminated in our Eco Fest, where students showed off their projects and all they learned in the past two weeks. We had an incredible experience working with our brilliant students and look forward to deepening in our relationship with this community in the future.

Environmental Mock Trial: justice was served

The hope of our May 2023 Ecological Project in Janbaskala is to teach students the skills necessary to actively participate in improving their communities. Here, our engineering team works to set up a drip-line irrigation system for the greenhouse in 47-Maktab. #worldaralregioncharity

Our May 2023 trip includes an environmental advocacy component, where students work on group projects such as Eco Theatre inspired by Oral History and an Environmental Law course that culminates with a Mock Trial. Our students are hard at work preparing for their play and trial, which will be showcased at our Eco Fest on 26 May in Janbasqala!
